FAQs
How do I know if the abortion pills worked?
Most people experience cramping and bleeding heavier than a period, often with the passage of small blood clots. This typically confirms the pregnancy has passed. We recommend taking a home pregnancy test 3–4 weeks after the process to confirm its completion. Do not take a test earlier, as pregnancy hormones remain in your system for several weeks.
Can I eat or drink while taking the pills?
Yes. We recommend light, non-greasy foods (like crackers or toast) and plenty of water or ginger ale to help with potential nausea. Avoid alcohol and large meals during the 24 hours you are taking Misoprostol.
Is it better to take Misoprostol under the tongue or vaginally?
Both methods are clinically effective. However, for maximum privacy, we recommend the under-the-tongue (buccal/sublingual) method. If you seek medical care later, no physical remnants of the pill will be detectable, whereas fragments can remain in the vagina for several days.
What should I do if I vomit after taking the pills?
If you vomit within 30 minutes of swallowing the first pill (Mifepristone), contact us, as you may need a replacement dose. If you vomit after the second pills (Misoprostol) have dissolved under your tongue for 30 minutes, the medication has already been absorbed into your system and you do not need to repeat the dose.
Will this affect my ability to get pregnant in the future?
No. A medical abortion with Mifepristone and Misoprostol does not affect your future fertility or your ability to have a healthy pregnancy later on.
